The first casting was presented to his daughter in a ceremony honoring her father and all the other Medal of Honor recipients who are buried at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The sculpture is one of the Medal of Honor Portraits in Bronze series created by the sculptor for the benefit of  Valor Remembered Foundation.
